As the founder of Shepherd Urban Landscape Architecture, Samuel is a Registered Landscape Architect with 15 years’ experience in Australia, New Zealand including leading projects in China and Vietnam. During this time, he has built his experience through both public and private sectors including nationally recognised design firms.

Samuel set up Shepherd Urban Landscape Architecture to offer bespoke landscape architecture services to support architectural practices and developers who don’t offer in-house landscape architectural services. Sam’s experience in managing projects, client relationships, and teams across open space, residential, commercial, hospitality, and educational projects means he brings a wider range, breadth, and senior experience to projects.

Samuel’s experience in managing large-scale projects spans many market sectors. A design leader with a keen focus on collaboration with clients, team members, consultants, and contractors from inception to delivery.

While studying for a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture at Unitec Institute of Technology Samuel developed strong stewardship for the land. His Polynesian background providing a positive and sensitive understanding of our historical and cultural relationship with the landscape.

Samuel enjoys intricate and complex design projects where he can demonstrate his passion for collaborating with Clients, Contractors, and Councils.

He is motivated by providing high-quality design outcomes that are meaningful, grounded, playful, and sustainable with a strong sense of place.
